Application Questions

Note: These questions are just suggestions to help facilitate your City Group discussion. You will not have enough time to answer them all, so feel free to focus on the ones that stand out to you the most.

  1. If you are a Christian, whom did God use to introduce you to Jesus? Who stands out in your mind and made the greatest impact on you? Briefly explain.
  2. Do you know someone who you thought would never become a Christian, but then they did? (Is that person you?) How does this shape your understanding of Jesus? Explain. How did it affect your understanding of Christianity? What theology and/or verses come to mind that support your understanding?
  3. In what ways can Christians be the best argument for Christianity? In what ways can they be the best argument against Christianity? What has been your experience? How does this shape how you speak the truth of Christ in love?
  4. What were some of your motives when you started seeking Jesus? How has God been refining your motives as you get to know Jesus better and mature in your understanding of what he’s all about?
  5. How have you grown in your understanding that Jesus himself is our great reward? Is this a reward we earned? Explain. How has this affected your love for Jesus?
  6. In what ways has it been difficult for you to set aside your own agenda to follow Jesus? How has Jesus and the Gospel helped you with that? As you think about how Jesus died for you to make you right with God, how does that change your heart and make you more like Jesus?

7. Is it easy or difficult for you to have friends who are not Christians? If all of your friends are Christians do you think that is a good thing? Why or why not? How is God using you to say “Come and see”—come and meet Jesus? How is God using you to share the Gospel with people? How is he using you to bring them into his community of grace—the Church? How can you grow in this? What will you do this week?

  1. In light of this discussion, how can we pray for you? Pray for each other.
